One of the best things about Air Fryer Pita Chips is their versatility. You can season them to your heart’s desire using a variety of herbs and spices. The possibilities are endless, whether you prefer a simple sea salt sprinkle or a garlic and herb blend. They pair perfectly with your favorite dips like hummus, guacamole, chicken salad, salsa, or a creamy tzatziki.
Making Air Fryer Pita Chips is also a fantastic way to use leftover pita bread. Instead of letting those extra pitas go to waste, you can transform them into a delicious and crunchy snack in just a few minutes. The process is simple: cut the pita bread into triangles, brush them in oil and seasoning, and pop them into the air fryer. In no time, you’ll have a batch of irresistibly crispy chips ready to enjoy.
The pita bread I used is thick; if you make this air fryer pita chips with not-so-thick pita bread, you’ll need to reduce the baking time. The baking time might vary depending on how crispy you want. Crispier chips need more time, and softer chips require less time.
You might want to try:
Ikpekere (Spicy Plantain Chips)
- Pocketless Pitas Bread (cut into triangles)
- 3 tablespoons Avocado/olive oil (or your choice)
- ½ teaspoon garlic and onion powder (each)
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley and thyme (each)
- Sea salt
-
Preheat the air fryer to 375℉.
-
In a small bowl, mix olive oil with the remaining ingredients.
-
Slice each pita into about triangles using a pizza cutter or knife; cut into half, then into triangles. Arrange pita triangles in a single layer on the fryer tray or basket (it’s ok if they are overlapping slightly). Brush each side of the pita with a thin layer of oil mixture.
-
Place in your air fryer for about 5-6 minutes or until golden brown. For softer chips, reduce the time to about 3-4 minutes. The chips will crisp a little more after cooling down. You can also bake if you don’t have an air fryer. If your pita bread is not thick, reduce the air frying or baking time.
-
Allow it to cool down and serve with your favorite dip. Enjoy!
