Hoisin baked tofu baked up pretty fast and delicious, this recipe can be prepared on a stove top if you don’t want to bake, a quick hoisin marinade makes it more delicious.
Tofu is a very good source of protein and this recipe doesn’t take time to prepare. You can make your own tofu from scratch (recipe coming soon) or just grab a pack or two from a store, all other recipes are what you’ll have in your pantry.
This baked tofu is a recipe you will want to make over and over again because it is delicious. Tofu is very common in Nigeria and some people like eating it raw or fried and it is popularly known as Wara. Tofu can be eaten by itself, to make soup/stew, serve it with any of your favorite sides…hmmm… Yum!
Let’s get started!
- 1 packet of Extra firm Tofu (12oz)
- 2 Tablespoons Soy sauce
- ¼ Cup Hoisin sauce
- 1 Teaspoon Onion powder
- 1 Teaspoon Ginger (minced)
- 2 Cloves Garlic (minced)
- 2 Teaspoons Oil (your choice)
- 1 Teaspoon Onion powder
- ½ Teaspoon Red pepper flake (optional)

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking pan with a foil, grease with oil and set aside.

Roll out about 5-6 ply of paper towel and place the block of tofu on it. Pat dry or if possible put a heavy object on it and allow the paper towels to absorb all the liquid and cut into cubes (the size you want). Tip: cut into cubes then use a salad spinner to drain.

In a small bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix.

Add the cubed tofu and gently combined, let it sits for about 20 minutes.

Place on the prepared pan bake for 15-20 minutes or until it gets to the texture you want.

For crispy tofu.
Freeze the tofu and thaw, and coat with corn flour.

Serve and garnish with green onion or pair with your favorite side dish.
