The recipe for today is how to make carrot oil, carrot oil is expensive and apart from being expensive, you might not get the real oil because it might contain some preservatives. Why pay more for what you can make yourself without breathing a sweat? Carrot oil is very beneficial for both skin and hair, it is naturally healthy for skin and hair.

  2. Grate the carrot by using a food processor or a grater.

  3. Place a pot on a low heat and add coconut oil or any oil you're using in the pot, add the grated carrot. You can also use a slow cooker to infuse the carrot oil. The point of using low heat or slow cooker is not to cook the nutrients in the carrot.

  1. Pls I forgot to drain out the water before grating and heating will it still be good for use.since there is water in it now,how many minutes is it advisable for me to heat it.

    1. I wouldn’t heat too much to retain the nutrients.
It will still be good, you could put it in the refrigerator or freeze it to separate the water and oil.

  2. How come some say, heat on low for 24-72 hours and yours is just for 30mins? Will the results be the same? Thanks

    1. Hello Ola,
Like any other things that could be done differently, this is not an exception. If you’re using a slow cooker to slow cook it, it would take longer time than using a stovetop. I’ve not tried it with a slow cooker or that long before and can’t give a verdict on it, but I think there shouldn’t be any difference.

  3. Tnx ma i just did mine yesterday it all came out fine. Bt ma hw can i apply it on my hair since it good for hair growth?

    1. Hi Queen,
Apply the oil to your hair and make sure it is consistent.
You can also use it before you use your conditioner, apply the oil then your conditioner, cover your hair with a shower cap.
Leave for at least 30 minutes and wash the way you will normally wash your hair. This help with moisture, when your hair is moisturized it won’t break.
It will be soft, shine and this will promote growth.
Hope this help, let me know if you have any further question.

  4. Please my carrot oil came out a shade close to brown what could be the cause?
And how do I seperate water from the carrot oil I just made

    1. Hi Peace,
Did you peel your carrot before grating it? Because that can also change the color.
Also, there shouldn’t be any water in the mixture but you can still separate the oil and water.
You can scoop out the oil with a spoon or refrigerate the mixture and scoop the oil out when after it’s cold.
Since carrots contain water if you plan to make it again you can try to squeeze out water after grating
using a cheesecloth or muslin cloth before adding oil to it.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need more clarification.

      • When you scrap the outer part rinse it and let the water drain off before peeling the carrot.
It shouldn’t be rotten unless the carrots are going bad before using them for the oil.
        Hope this help.
  5. I tried it, and it came out nice but my carrots are weight, would it still work perfectly and would it last for at least a week?

    1. Hi Wendy, did you mean your carrots are wet?
Your carrot should be dry before using (before you start the process) it but if it came out fine then don’t fret it should last more than a week.
      Thank you for stopping by.

      1. Hello, can I add any perfume or essential oils to make it smell better? Because I observed that the fresh smell evaporates after few weeks?

  6. I tried this at home but at some point it started smelling, why? can the carrot be sun dried before pouring into the oil?

    1. The carrots and amount of oil you used will determine the color, the color doesn’t alter its potency if you follow the procedure. Also, don’t forget you’re seeing this through the pictures.

  7. 4 stars
