The recipe for today is how to make carrot oil, carrot oil is expensive and apart from being expensive, you might not get the real oil because it might contain some preservatives. Why pay more for what you can make yourself without breathing a sweat? Carrot oil is very beneficial for both skin and hair, it is naturally healthy for skin and hair.
Some of the benefits of carrot oil are stated below:
- It contains beta-carotene, rich in vitamin A and C which helps protect skin.
- It serves as a moisturizer if you have brittle or dry hair, carrot oil is for you.
- It strengthen hair, makes it more elastic.
- It helps with hair growth.
- It heals damaged skin.
The benefits are many. I usually use the carrot oil mixture for hair and skin, I mix it with vitamin E oil or any essential oil, and shea butter and it works like a magic. I have lemon infused oil, coconut oil posted, I will include the links below
You might want to try :
- 1 Pound Carrot
- 2 Cups Coconut Oil (any oil of your choice)
Clean and scrape off the carrot, by using a potato peeler or a knife.
Grate the carrot by using a food processor or a grater.
Place a pot on a low heat and add coconut oil or any oil you're using in the pot, add the grated carrot. You can also use a slow cooker to infuse the carrot oil. The point of using low heat or slow cooker is not to cook the nutrients in the carrot.
Mix the shredded carrot with oil and let the carrot absorb all the oil.
Leave the mixture for about 15 - 20 minutes, check and stir.
Allow the carrot to infuse for another 10 minutes.
Take it off the heat and let it cool down.
strain the oil by using a sieve to separate the oil, and bottle it up. Your carrot oil is ready.
If you want your carrot oil in a small quantity you can use 1 big stick of carrot and about half a cup of oil.
Update: To clean: scrap off the outer part and rinse allow the water to drain off and dry before peeling the carrots for use.
