Tomato Sauce With Herbs is a simple to make your sauce ahead or use immediately. If you have a lot of tomatoes you can use this recipe to make your tomato base sauce and refrigerate or freeze.
This tomato Sauce With Herbs could use in any dish or recipe that require tomato base or stew. If you’re using it in a stew recipe you’ll need to blend other peppers then add to the this tomato sauce.
If you have excess tomato or when there’s a sale and you buy more than you need, this is one of many ways of preserving it. Make sure you use a sterilize jar before you pour the sauce. You could use place the jar in a pot with water boil, allow it to cool down completely before you store it.

- 1 Pound Tomato or Canned tomatoes (chopped)
- 2 Tablespoons Butter
- 1 Big Onion (chopped)
- 1 Teaspoon Dried Basil
- 2 Cloves Garlic (chopped or whole)
- 1/2 Teaspoon Oregano
- ½ Teaspoon Dried Thyme
- Salt and pepper

Clean the tomatoes, onions and chop.

Melt the butter in a saucepan or pot over medium high heat and saute the chopped onion for about 3-5 minutes make sure you don’t burn it.

Add the garlic and continue to cook for about 30 seconds or so.

Season with basil, thyme, oregano, and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.

Add the chopped tomatoes and continue to cook on medium low. Simmer the tomato mixture for about 10-15 minutes.

Blend until smooth or to your desired consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Pour in a sterilized container and allow to cool down completely, if you desire you can top the mixture with oil before covering. You could use place the jar in a pot with water boil, allow it to cool down completely before you store it.

Refrigerate until you’re ready to use. You can also freeze it.
