If you love sandwiches and you’ve not tried this turkey-apple sandwiches with the sauce you’re missing. Like, seriously, you’re missing. The taste is superb, the sauce takes the sandwiches to another level entirely.
For this turkey-apple sandwiches with sauce is what you need to try anytime you want sandwiches. You don’t have to use turkey breast slices, you can use chicken breast or beef deli. The apple slice could be thin or thick (but not too thick). the only thing I would say is that you need thick bread slices so the sauce doesn’t soften the bread quickly.
Any crusty or thick bread is good for this turkey-apple sandwiches with sauce, but for this recipe, I used Texas toast slices, which is thick and good for this purpose. Also, you can use any apple type of your choice; Granny Smith, Gala and so on.
For the cheese, I used provolone cheese, feel free to use any type of your choice; swiss, cheddar. If you have a panini maker make use of it if not a hot skillet will do.
You might want to try;
- 8 Slices Bread (I used Texas Toast)
- 4 Slices Provolone Cheese (or your choice)
- 1 Gala Apple (sliced, and cored)
- 3-4 Tablespoons Unsalted butter (or more)
- 8 Slices Turkey breasts
- Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 Tablespoons Mayo
- 1 Tablespoon Honey (adjust to your preference)
- Pinch of Salt
-
Gather all the ingredients, clean the apple and slice into rings (not too thick) and remove the seeds or any inner part. You can leave the skin on or off.
-
In a bowl, combine, mayo, mustard, honey, and season with salt. Taste to check and adjust to your preference.
-
Smear four slices of the bread with the sauce, place a couple of apple slices, then top with turkey breasts and cheese. Use as many apple slices/turkey breasts as you want.
-
Cover with the other slice bread and spread butter to the outside of each bread slices.
-
Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and place each sandwich butter side down and toast for about 3 minutes or until the bread is toasted to your desire before you flip it spread butter to the top side and flip to toast the second side.
-
Remove and continue with the rest of the sandwiches. Allow to rest and slice up.
-
Serve and enjoy!
