Get your bread ready, chop the green onion, rodo (if you're using it), and set aside.
In a medium-size bowl, whisk the Akara batter, egg, green onion, pepper, dried onion, seasoning powder (if you're using it), and salt to taste.
Gently add water to thin out the mixture. Make sure the batter is not too thin.
Soak a slice of bread on both sides for about a minute or thereabout. I used thick bread slices so the bread doesn't disintegrate in the process. If you're using thin bread slices make sure you're fast about it. You can scoop some of the green onion over the bread if you desire.
Heat about a couple of oil in a skillet or pan over medium-high heat. Place the soaked bread and cook until the color changes or fully cooked
Flip the bread and cook on the other side.
Once it is cooked, transfer it to a plate and continue to cook the rest of the bread.
You can enjoy the akara toast as it is.
If you desire, drizzle some sweet and chili sauce. Enjoy!
