Easy Citrus-Herb Rice

  • 3 Cups Long grain rice (washed and drain)
  • 1 Tablespoons Unsalted butter (you can add more)
  • ¼ Cup Fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • ½ Teaspoon Garlic (minced)
  • 3 Green onions (sliced)
  • 1 Lemon zest
  • Salt to taste


  1. Gather the ingredients, chop the parsley and green onions. Wash and drain the rice. Set aside.

  2. Place a saucepan/pot over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the green onions, garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

  3. Add the washed rice and mix to combine and coat the grains.

  4. Add 4 cups of water (you can reduce the quantity of water if you don’t know what quantity of water to cook the type of rice you’re cooking with) and stir.

  5. Cover and bring to a rolling boil on high heat, seasoning with salt, cover and reduce the heat to medium-heat simmer until the rice is fully cooked and all the liquid is absorbed.

  6. Add the lemon zest and chopped parsley.

  7. If you like to parboil your rice, do the parboil before adding to the green onion mixture then continue the cooking.
  8. Serve
