Best sloppy joes (sloppy joes) are kind of a dinner you can quickly whip up and before you know it, dinner is ready. So, if you have ground beef at home and still not sure of what to make for dinner, try this out. You can any type of buns or rolls for this recipe but I prefer to use these soft buns my kids like (except for one that wont eat store bought bread), feel free to use any kind of your choice. The beef also tastes good on rice or pasta. So if you have leftover you can make use of it later not as sloppy joe but as another meal. Let’s get started!
- 1 Pound Ground beef
- 1/2 Red bell pepper (diced)
- 1 Small Onion (diced)
- 1 Tablespoon Paprika
- 1 Tablspoon Dry mustard
- 2 Tablespoons Brown sugar
- 2 Teaspoon Worchesteshire sauce
- 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
- 1/8 Cup Tomato paste
- 1 Cup Water
- 1 Teaspoon Onion powder
- 1 Teaspoon Garlic powder
- Salt and pepper
- Buns
-
Place a large skillet/pan over high heat. When it is hot add the ground beef and use the cooking ladle or spoon to break the beef up
-
Cook the beef until it is almost fully cooked.
-
Drain out all the drippings from the beef, I got almost a cup of dripping.
-
Reduce the heat to medium-high heat. Add onion and mix.
-
Add the Worcestershire sauce, water, tomato paste, ketchup, brown sugar, dry mustard, onion and garlic powder, red bell pepper and sprinkle salt and pepper over the beef. Stir and cook the mixture down for about 5 minutes.
-
Reduce the heat to low and cook for about 12 minutes until it thickens.
-
Check the seasonings, and reasoning if it is necessary.
-
Lightly toast the buns and scoop the beef mixture over it.
-
Enjoy!
