This is a very delicious homemade applesauce recipe, it so simple to make. This is better than store-bought applesauce! If you like your applesauce chunky, lightly mashed the cooked apples if you want it all smooth use a blender to puree/blend to the consistency you want. If you’re blending please be careful while blending the mixture. I used maple syrup instead of sugar, (you can adjust the quantity to your preference) but if you like/want the brown color in applesauce use brown sugar instead of maple syrup.
Also, I used mixed apples you can use any type or mixture of your favorite. You can enjoy it cold or hot, enjoy with your favorite snack, pork chops, savory snack, pancake, lunch etcetera. Applesauce is not only kids friendly as an adult I love applesauce too. Sometimes at night, I munch on applesauce if I’m hungry and it’s too late to eat.
Let get started!
- 5 Pounds Apple (mixed)Peeled, cored and quartered
- 1/2 Cup Maple syrup (or water or apple cider)
- 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 Teaspoon Nutmeg
- 1/2 Cup Water
- 3 Tablespoons Lemon juice
-
Peel the apples, core, and quartered. You can dice them up also.
-
Place a large saucepan/pot over medium-high heat. Add the cut up apples.
-
Add the cinnamon, nutmeg.
-
Add lemon juice, water, and maple syrup. Mix to incorporate everything.
-
Boil for about 25 minutes until the apples are soft.
-
If you want some chunks lightly mash them. Or blend if you want your applesauce smooth. If you're blending please be careful as the content is hot.
-
Pour the applesauce into a sterilized jar. Let it cool cover and refrigerate.
Enjoy!
Note:
Applesauce can be without sugar, so feel free to make it without sugar.
